Currie Street
Retailers and shops along Currie Street are exposed to thousands of passengers a day in passing buses arriving in the city centre from the suburbs. In addition, shop windows are viewed by commuters as they wait for buses in front of the many stores on the ground level of the city's office blocks.
Currie Street is home to the TAFE educational campus frequented by many students throughout the day. The new funky street precincts Leigh Street and Peel Street have blossomed with the advent of many new small bars and cafes offering a range of food and entertainment during the day and into the evening. Topham Mall on the southern side of Currie Street is a popular link from the train station to the Central Market. The density of large city offices close by adds to the vibrancy of the street as office workers arrive in the morning and leave each evening, often purchasing items when in transit.
